About
AOL, or America Online, is a mass media and digital communications company that was founded in 1985. It has since become one of the world's largest internet service providers, and its primary service is offering dial-up access to the internet. In addition to its internet offerings, AOL also operates a number of other businesses, including online content, search, and advertising platforms.
The company has faced heavy competition in recent years, particularly from the likes of Google and Facebook, and has been struggling to keep up. In 2015, AOL was acquired by Verizon for $4.4 billion.
