Orange DAO is one of the most prominent DAOs in Web3.
It features nearly 1,200 Y Combinator alumni as members. An active investor in crypto projects, it maintains the $50M Orange Fund.
Through its strong founder network, the DAO supports its portfolio of 140 startups, and maintains a fellowship program of 40 builders in web3.
As Orange DAO’s Head of Product, Byron Hsu realized Orange DAO needed an internal platform to support its community. The DAO was previously almost entirely operated on Discord.
Byron saw an opportunity to build a portal where DAO members could coordinate to support the DAO’s portfolio companies, view member benefits, and review applications for funding.
Essentially: a web3 private founder social network.
Orange DAO engaged NUMI to handle the design of the portal, one of the first of its kind in Web3.
NUMI improved the design of the existing product surface area of Orange DAO. We then helped the DAO design its portal.
Working together, NUMI implemented the designs for the portal and also researched examples of similar implementations elsewhere.
“The designs were great, and the product today looks awesome. NUMI managed to capture the exact vibe we were going for,” says Byron Hsu, Orange DAO's head of product and formerly cofounder of Paragon One (Y Combinator W16). “Our NUMI designer was able to not only help design the user experience, but collaborate deeply with me on how the portal should look and work.”
